“Seniors should not retire from church, especially those dealing with Alzheimer’s and dementia” is something you will hear Pastor Ja Davis say over and over. He makes sure this happens each week when he and The Walk Church USA team take worship services to 30-plus assisted living and memory care facilities throughout Tarrant and Denton Counties in North Central Texas.
In addition, he periodically presents an “I’ve Got Joy” interactive concert offsite from the centers. The concerts focus on hymns seniors grew up singing and patriotic songs that revive memories. Sometimes Alzheimer’s patients may not communicate, but when the music starts they remember the words and begin singing!
Pastor Ja was raised in a family of music ministers. His father is a music minister, his mother a children’s minister and all three of his brothers are pastors. Pastor Ja has served as a Christian singer and hospice minister prior to he and his wife, Synthia, founding The Walk Church USA. “The ministry is customized to fit the spiritual needs of the communities we serve,” said Pastor Ja. “Our mission is to spiritually equip seniors to continue to walk out their faith and God-given purpose.”
Pastor Ja and Synthia are parents to two sons, London and George Knightly. They reside in Fort Worth, Texas.
